Robert E. Applebaum Scholarship

The Robert E. Applebaum Scholarship Fund was created to provide financial support to undergraduate seniors and graduate students who intend to further their education at a college. Each year, scholarships are granted for full-time study at any accredited public or private four-year college or university in Minnesota.
Qualification Criteria
To be considered for the Robert E. Applebaum Scholarship, applicants must satisfy ALL of the following requirements:
- Intend to be a senior in college OR a graduate student enrolled in full-time study at an accredited public or private four-year college or university in Minnesota for the entire forthcoming academic year.
- Maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
Scholarship Awards
- Scholarships of up to $12,500 each will be granted. The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation annually determines the distribution of awards, based on the total funds available from The Robert E. Applebaum Scholarship Fund.
- While awards are not renewable, students can reapply to the program each year they meet the eligibility criteria.
- The awards are intended for undergraduate (college seniors only) and graduate study.
Notification of Awards
Applicants will receive notification in late March. However, not all applicants will be chosen as recipients.
Disbursement of Scholarships
Scholarship America handles the disbursement of scholarship payments on behalf of the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation. Payments are typically made in early August.
Selection Process
The selection of scholarship recipients is based on:
- Academic performance
- Leadership roles and involvement in school and community activities
- Work experience
- Statement of educational and career aspirations and goals
- Unique personal or family circumstances
- An external appraisal
- Financial need, as determined by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to be awarded.
- Scholarship America is responsible for the selection of recipients. No officer or employee of the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation participates in the selection process. All applicants must agree to accept the decision as final.
As part of the application process, the following must be uploaded:
A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports will not be accepted. Transcripts must include the student's name, school name, grade, and credit hours for each course, and the term in which each course was taken.
